Now that the guidl app has soft-launched onto the App and Google Play Stores, we’re thrilled to see users from all around the world beginning to use guidl to bring their world to life! To ensure everyone can navigate guidl with ease, we’ve created this handy glossary to define some of the key terms used in the app. Whether you’ve guidled before or just beginning your guidl adventure, this guide will help you make the most of your experience.

guidl Ltd

Our company name. Our mission is to empower creators to share their unique stories and bring the world around us to life, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the history, culture, nature, stories and perspectives that surround us all.

guidl (platform)

Our digital platform, allowing users to create, host and access geo-located audio experiences. guidl can be downloaded from Apple’s App store or from Google’s Play store. If you wish to create your own content, sign up on the website to be a guidl creator!

“I signed up for a guidl account on Friday.”

guidl (experience)

A piece of audio, up to ten minutes long, associated with a specific location. A guidl can be about anything! A user can enjoy a guidl at its location, or from the comfort of their own home.

“I really enjoyed Tom’s guidl on Nelson’s Column”

guidl tour (experience)

A collection of guidls, intended to be enjoyed together as one longer, multi-stop experience. The first guidl of a guidl tour is always free, but to access the others, users must purchase the guidl tour through the guidl app. Users have the freedom to enjoy the guidls at their own pace.

Accessing the guidl platform to learn more about one’s surroundings and bring the world to life.

“Have you guidled it?”

guidl creator

A person, collective or organisation who has created a guidl tour and published it to the guidl platform. Whenever their guidl tour is purchased, they receive a share of the revenue.

“Alice is my favourite guidl creator.”

User

Someone who downloads and uses the guidl app to purchase and enjoy a guidl tour. People can be both users and guidl creators.

“There were a hundred users on guidl yesterday.”
